Sharul Nazeem Aims For First Clean Sheet

Last week, Selangor FC managed to bring home 3 points from the Stadium Hang Tuah. Tonight, the Red Giants will continue their journey in securing another Liga Super victory when they receive a visit from Sabah FC at the MBPJ Stadium, Kelana Jaya.

For the record, the last time the Selangor team met The Rhinos was during the 2020 Super League, when Selangor made a comeback with a 2-1 victory through two goals from Ifedayo Olusegun at the Stadium Likas, Kota Kinabalu.

Karsten Neitzel, the Head Coach of the Red Giants admitted that the action against Melaka United last week was not the best performance of his boys, but admired the spirit and mentality that they posessed.

"Of course we want to win tonight. But, football is a daily bussiness. Tonight we need again to show our best performance. During the last game against Melaka United, we did not play well. But, the other important thing is the team spirit, mentality and belief in what we want to show on the field,” explained Karsten.

"For that, I hope that the team will play tonight with high motivation. We want victory but the most important thing is, we will not win if we are two or three steps short,” he added.

Speaking about the Sabah FC, Coach Karsten gave the following remarks:

“I have seen several matches involving Sabah. They have great individual players and we have to respect that.”

In addition, Red Giants young central defender, Sharul Nazeem Zulpakar also gave his views on tonight's match.

"For me, it will be a difficult game. Saddil (Ramdani) is not an easy player to control. We also have a former Selangor player, Amri Yahyah. There is a little pressure for me to outplay them, but Insha Allah I will do my best for Selangor.”

Sharul Nazeem also admitted that the Selangor team needs to improve on the existing weaknesses and he dreamed of the first clean sheet with the team.

"If possible, I want a clean sheet. During the last 3 games, I still haven't had one yet. Insha Allah, tonight I will do my best for Selangor to get a clean sheet,” explained Sharul Nazeem.

As for the players' availability, four Red Giants players are still not able to be listed for this match such as Nik Sharif Haseefy (ankle injury), Halim Saari (ACL), Wan Zack Haikal (right knee injury), Tim Heubach and Sean Selvaraj.

The Red Giants currently sitting at the 5th spot  in the Liga Super 2021 with 14 points as a result of four wins, two draws and two defeats, while Sabah FC is in 8th place with a total of 9 points.

Tonight's victory will see Selangor challenge for the top 4 place in the league, which only separated by only 3 points behind Kedah FC in the 3rd place in the league. Come on you, Red Giants!

Demi kebanggaan.
